More telling than showing
not liking the way they're trying to create mystery. it feels unnatural and forced
we're constantly getting told that the dead husband was this bloodthirsty cunt but there's no proof or flashbacks except minor levels of assholery, nothing like what the protagonist's words are implying
I get why it would be hard to say no to your mom and I can imagine what kind of issues and complications may arise following that first one...
imma choke on this purple prose-y shit
the book keeps telling the reader they should care about the big, bad secret but I never did grrr
finally done reading about this mary sue character in a "thriller". nothing was unbelievable but the premise and character building left was at best annoying.
the delivery of the "plot twist" at the end was supposed to evoke shock and surprise but only brought up disgust and disappointment.
2 stars for being plausible I guess
